Psychotherapy & Meditation

Psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, couples, families, and groups

INDIVIDUALS

Christine has been working with adults, young adults, and adolescents in individual therapy for 20 years grappling with various symptoms and stages of depression, anxiety, negative thinking, low self-esteem, gender and sexual explorations, and self-acceptance.  She focuses on helping to heal emotional imbalance from life transitions and change.  Christine helps foster self-acceptance by actively engaging in the therapeutic process with compassionate inquiry.

Relationship Therapy

Christine aims to help those struggling in relationships to help better understand the patterns that cause ruptures in their relationships. She has worked with manogamous and non-manogamous couples, friends, and families in many variations and forms of coupling. She aims to help people learn to identify how they feel and how to communicate that to the other(s) in their attempt to connect, find fulfillment, and relate.  Relationship therapy can help to open a dialogue about intimacy, needs and desires, alternative relationship structures, gender and sexual questioning, stagnation in the relationship, infidelity, and friendship breakups.  She has worked with relationships experiencing crisis, life transitions (including premarital work), defining what family means to them, parenting challenges, and communication challenges.

mindfulness meditation & therapy

Mindfulness Meditation Therapy is a unique individual therapeutic experience that incorporates mindfulness meditation instruction and practice during the therapy hour with the processing and understanding of what is being activated in moment-to-moment experience. This supportive therapy will facilitate the development of a meditation practice that will aid the improvement of anxiety and depression symptoms, decrease activation in the nervous system, positive impacts on the brain, and help cultivate the ability to respond rather than react. Mindfulness Meditation Therapy is a version of and influenced by MBCT, or mindfulness based cognitive therapy. Read an article about MBCT from the American Psychological Association here: https://www.apa.org/monitor/2015/03/cover-mindfulness

This therapy is suitable for short-term treatment, as an adjunct with traditional talk therapy, and for long-term treatment. Mindfulness Meditation Therapy can be an in person, on the cushion service as well as a virtual service via Zoom. It provides a unique experience to build and sustain a practice on the cushion.

GROUP

Group is an effective way to learn about yourself and ways of relating to others in a supportive environment that capitalizes on the power of shared experience. In addition to skill development, group therapy can help clients feel less alone, more understood and accepted, and hopeful for change. Christine is experienced running long and short-term therapeutic groups, most recently co-leading short term therapeutic groups teaching mindfulness and meditation skills to adolescents experiencing depression and anxiety.
